Wareham Walkers take to the road on the first Tuesday of each month (except January, most years) and start from other locations within a reasonable driving distance of Wareham. The actual start time of these walks is the same as ‘Home Walks’ (10.30 am) and shared travelling by car is encouraged.
Away Walks are generally of longer duration (usually between one and two hours) and also often over more difficult terrain, including hills and a few stiles. Walkers will be informed of all such hazards before the walk starts as a full Risk Assessment of the walk will have been undertaken by the Walk Leaders usually during the week beforehand.
Please equip yourself with stout shoes or walking boots for these walks - the Walk Leaders reserve the right to prevent walkers with inadequate footwear from participating. Walking sticks may also be helpful. Please bring any medication you may need during the walk. Also sun screen when the UV index is high (see our Weather table for this on the Info page - Click HERE) and drinking water, if required.
All Away Walks are scheduled to end with optional refreshments either near the walk end point (bring your own coffee and folding chairs) or in a café or pub selected and arranged by the Leader and Organiser - this is noted on the Away Walks Schedule below. Please ensure you have sufficient car parking time to allow for this if there is a charge.
